Earthbag construction is an inexpensive and rapid building method that uses local materials to create strong structures. The soil, sand, and stone aggregate mixture is packed into leno (polypropylene) bags, arranged in a staggered pattern similar to masonry, and then firmly tamped down. Barbed wire between the layers acts as mortar, locking the bags together and forming a matrix within the wall system.
