This house is cradled in the lap of nature – that is the perfect description of this holiday home in the Sirri honne coffee estate. The house is designed for a young couple Andrew and Mrinal and their 2year old daughter. The brief was to create a space that could be used to host family and friends in a setting that is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The house sits on a highly contoured and vegetated site incorporating the existing trees into the house. It encashes on the beautiful views of the valley through decks and courtyards with collapsible doors that opens up the house to the river flowing in front of the site. One of our favorite features in this project would be the re-use of the Pantha – an old grain storage that had fallen into disuse. This will be repurposed to a study room on the first floor accessed by a beautiful 100 year old wrought iron staircase.
